But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV)
Thank you that your grace really is sufficient for me today. Your made perfect in my weakness. So I should not be ashamed, anxious, or angry (resentful) of my weaknesses. That's a temptation for me. As a student of Japanese language, I need to apply this to my life. I am learning little by little, day by day to understand and speak here. It's my weakness that I am not be able to communicate freely in Japan. Sometimes I panic when I don't know what's going on or fall into constant criticism of myself. What perspective do you give? Your response is not 頑張って (がんばって) . I think I struggle with self-pressure and sometimes even self- condemnation. I want to live in dependency on Christ and his sufficient grace. I want to be able to learn Japanese knowing that what He gives me is enough for me today so I can relax and trust that his power is at work in my life even though U don't usually feel it. He sustains me. I'll rely on his words about what's true. This Scripture comes to me and refreshes me. When we hear that voice inside of us or around us from others who are just trying to encourage or motivate us, let us remember the words of the Savior and Apostle Paul that his power really is made perfect in my weakness. So I can boast about it and don't have to conceal my weakness from God or others. I don't have to fear making mistakes or what others think of me when I speak. That's the best news I can hear today. You'll probably use my weaknesses more than my strengths in Japan. My weaknesses are where you show up in my life and flow through me. Your sufficient grace will sustain me today and your power is real. Thank you for your provision in Jesus today! What he gives is my deepest need today.
